In case no. 2, deterioration of oxygenation was connected with interruption of ILV due to obstruction of double lumen tube. This confirms that the two methods are complementary and obtain better results when used together: on one hand selective re-expansion of the pathologic lung and its stabilization, on the other administration of surfactant.
