Note:
After surfactant administration, an increase of peak inspiratory pressure(PIP) is frequent and a consequent reduction of tidal volume is noted, when uncuffed tube is used. Using Pressure Regulated Volume Control Ventilation, it is possible, maintaining tidal and minute volume constant, to reduce peak inspiratory pressure avoiding manual adjustment of ventilation patterns when compliance changes. Personal observation and unpublished data.
